REVISED EVENT PROGRAM 2024

Due to the current status of the Central District under Total Fire Ban, we have made the decision to institute a revised event program for 2024 in the interests of ensuring everyone’s safety - participants, volunteers and community.

The main changes are:

  • Lumberjack Run (Saturday) will be on a revised course that is brought into the Warburton Valley. 43km. 2200m of vert approx. A combination of the Donna Double and Redwoods Rush courses

  • Nearly all events on Saturday and Sunday will START AN HOUR EARLIER. This is in order to avoid the hottest part of the day with all participants off course we expect by approx 1ish.

  • The only unaffected event timings are 4.5km runs (Sat & Sun) and the night run (Sunday).

  • Extra water and tailwind on courses

  • Extra marshals and monitoring

  • Shift of Lumberjack course ensure much easier access to course for safety and monitoring

  • CANCELLATION of the film screening at the theatre due to council mandatory closure under current Central District conditions. Tickets for this will be refunded by the theatre direct.

We are in constant communication with land managers and authorities (Parks Vic, DEECA and CFA) regarding the upcoming weather predicted across the State, always with safety in mind.

Good news... localised conditions currently predicted for Warburton Valley are actually cooler and more favourable than for the rest of Central District. So conditions as advised are safe for operations on a modified course.

However - due to advice and discussions with authorities, and as noted above we have made the decision to pull the Lumberjack 50km run off its regular course and operate a revised course that does not take it quite as remote (safety access and exposure considerations). Welcome to the 'LUMBERJILL' everyone! Shorter but tougher than the Lumberjack. Natch.

Conditions remain fluid and we will continue to update and respond as required.

We thank everyone for their understanding and patience.

Cheers,

The TdT Team.
